Next Post - Bam-E
This is my favorite pancit of all time!!! Will formulate and post about this next :) yum!
Eons Ago
I bought a pasta maker, cheaper than the one they have at Gourdo's. I bought it at SM Ayala (Metro Manila, Philippines). It was a thousand plus, it was good enough, thing is, if it had an expiration date, I would have gone to the ground by now. I do not even know its whereabouts, but trust me, if I could find the time and the conviction to pound up a ball of dough to come up with the most satisfying (but small amount) of pasta I would!
By and by, no I meant, by the way, it isn't that easy to get the right types of flour in this country, because we are Canton country and not pasta noodle country. I have yet to explore retail at Quiapo (Old Manila), but it seems to be non-existent, thus, here are other options for flour(this is related to the noodle making). I tend to experiment on the textures I do not have a rule-book just yet, but I believe bread floor works a less soggier noodle than the usual APF (all purpose flour).
Flour:
Healthy Options (Shangri-La Plaza Mall) - have different types of flour and nuts at seemingly expensive but possibly reasonable prices. I checked out a 5lb bag of whole wheat flour -price: 245.00 Philippine Peso
Metro Gaisano Supermarket (Market Market, the Fort, Taguig) - this I have yet to explore, however I have noticed, recently that they have the widest array of imported goods, from Charmie toilet paper, to Fabuloso! It's just Fabulous! They have the largest deli section for Earl's that I had seen thus far. Check out, might have the kind of flour that your cooking may require.
Santi's Deli (whichever branch or Rockwell) - they have pasta flour, price unknown)
Center for Culinary Arts (2F Cravings Building, Katipunan) sells supplies of various types for your cooking needs, raw materials, utensils, books, and pasta flour (the 00 type, if I remember it right)
Farmers Market (Araneta Center, Cubao) there is one stall I'd seen from which I had purchased bread flour and APF by weight, they also sell nuts by bulk, I do believe they have cashew, and wallnuts, I am not certain of the quality but the wheatgerm though cheap, didn't taste right...the flour was cheap and edible...(it's the stuff of which I'd made my first few batches of fresh pasta), also the place where I get my packaging supplies...
Other sources, other ingredients:
Chocolate Lover (P. Tuazon, Cubao, and other branches) they just might have flour, who knows, but ofcourse they trade all sorts of chocolate, from tropical types to Belgian plus soft icecream premix...
Spices and Foodmix (in front of or diagonal to Purgold Qi on E. Rodriguez, Quezon City/also Lemon Square Building, Munoz, QC) all your meat processing needs, extenders, improvers etc...
*wish I could learn how to cook Greek!
